Section 3 - Notes/Story:
Why and when did Thomas G. Martin come west from Maryland and with who?
If Thomas came to California because of the California Gold Rush, trying to establish when and why...and since Thomas was a miner per the 1870 census, the "The California Gold Rush" takes place on January 24, 1848, lasts until 1855, when gold was discovered at Sutter's Mill in Coloma CA. Which is 340 miles from Scott River CA, which Scott River is the first known place Thomas per the 1870 census lived. Unknown about the 1850 & 1860 census.
George Adolphus "Pappy" Duzel, arrives to Seiad in 1836, w/ Tom McKay, as fur trappers. However, the year or birthdates of George and Thomas, would have to be earlier than 1830, otherwise they came with their parents in 1836 or more like came in 1856.
Thomas G. Martin came into Seiad Valley, from Oregon, via the COOK & GREEN Pass down to Seiad Valley, when is unknown. Tom G. MARTIN is shown as born in Maryland, 1829/30 {headstone}
